The Soul Escapes - "MadVentures" was beckoned ever since my first time traveling to West Africa. I had the privilege then of a tour of Senegal with the distinguished Dr. Deborah L. Mack - who will also be leading our upcoming tour - and I must tell you that I was in awe! Everything was different and unique and special and...oh my goodness, I am in Africa! Everything I thought I knew about a people - my people (the good AND but the good of it) was acknowledged, celebrated, memorialized and confirmed - that, yes, we are indeed descendants of Ancient Kings and Queens. Everything from our assorted shades of black, to our bright, bold colors and rich textures, to our adornment of karat gold and precious jewels, to our deliberately unhurried moves and slow, seductive grooves, to our hearty laughter and daily celebration of heritage, family, food, music, dance, art and especially "the Art of Conversation." Oh, the stories - that have never been told - to us!
